Kommersant learned about the first deliveries of SSJ100 with used engines

By the end of 2022, Azimuth Airlines will receive a Superjet100 aircraft with “second category” engines for the first time in the history of Russian aviation. About it writes Kommersant, citing sources.

The new aircraft will be the seventeenth in the Azimuth fleet, the carrier will receive the aircraft from PSB Leasing.

According to a source in the aviation industry, the engines for it were taken from a replacement pool. The information was confirmed by interlocutors in the airline and the Ministry of Transport.

According to the source, the transfer of the aircraft to Azimuth was seriously delayed, since the Federal Air Transport Agency could not agree on the execution of the airworthiness documentation for such an SSJ for a long time. As a result, they decided to leave an indication of the installation of engines of the second category, the source close to the Ministry of Transport specified.

According to another source, the aircraft will be the only SSJ in 2022 with engines that “have a short flight time.” At the same time, the newspaper claims, in 2023, airlines will receive about 10 more SSJs with old engines.

Rostec confirmed to the publication that the engines were installed on the aircraft “from the available spare parts”. At the same time, the state corporation noted that this would not affect flight safety in any way, since “the power plants are in excellent condition.” They also added that the customer is aware of the details of the delivery, “there were no complaints.”

In addition, Rostec reminded that UEC is currently developing the PD-8 engine, which is planned to be delivered to SSJ New aircraft as early as 2023.
