Kommersant learned about the difficulties with aircraft maintenance due to security measures

Airlines have faced difficulties with servicing aircraft due to increased security measures at Moscow airports, writes “Kommersant”.

The third (maximum) level of security in November of the last goal was introduced at Moscow airports Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo, as well as at Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg. The third level of response is established in the presence of direct threats that have already created the danger of an act of unlawful interference (UA). The order to introduce a third level of security was given at the direction of the FSB, said a Vedomosti source close to the service.

As the publication notes, due to the strengthening of security measures, a significant part of the platforms, checkpoints and aviation technical bases of airlines got into the transportation sector of transport security, where access was prohibited with one-time passes (ATB).

At the same time, the Association of Air Transport Operators (AEVT) warned of possible risks back in November. They noted that the ban on access for people with one-time passes would make it impossible to deliver spare parts, components and test equipment to ATB. In response, the Ministry of Transport advised issuing permanent passes for the necessary employees, since the proposal to issue one-time passes would require lengthy approvals.

According to the newspaper’s sources in the industry, a large-scale disruption in work is being avoided thanks to the joint efforts of airports, carriers and counterparties, but the situation may worsen in the summer amid increased traffic. One of the interlocutors of the publication noted that the lack of one-time passes complicates logistics and delays some types of work. At the same time, a check in law enforcement agencies for issuing a permanent pass can take three to four weeks. Another airline noted that it was possible to alleviate the situation with the help of urgent passes, which, unlike one-time passes, are valid for several days.

The General Director of the Airport Association, Viktor Gorbachev, in an interview and publication noted that persons with one-time passes could be allowed to travel accompanied by full-time employees of the airport aviation security. This practice is common at airports around the world, he added.
