According to the newspaper, at least five airlines from Russia have already received approvals for insurance settlements with Western aircraft owners. It is specified that we are talking about 80-90 aircraft, including 47 of Aeroflot. At the same time, the companies were given a period of less than three months to close the transaction, and the extension of the period is unlikely.
A source close to the Ministry of Transport noted that the terms of the transactions were agreed upon or approached by Aeroflot, S7, Rusline, Ural Airlines, and iFly.
On the allocation of 300 billion rubles. for the purchase of aircraft leased by Russian airlines from foreign lessors, said in March the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev. At the same time, he clarified that some of these funds had already been used “Aeroflot» for the purchase of 10 long-haul aircraft (AC).
Yury Fedyukin, Managing Partner at Enterprise Legal Solutions told Vedomosti that the allocation of significant funds by the Russian government for the purchase of aircraft will ease some of the problems, but it remains to be seen how successful the efforts of the operators will be.
He noted that it could be difficult for Russian operators to repurchase aircraft from foreign owners due to sanctions and the fact that most of the remaining aircraft are under operating leases.
