Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia Dzhulustan Borisov said that the Kolmar coal mining company, due to an excess of coal reserves in warehouses in the amount of more than 1 million tons, which occurred due to congestion of railway lines, has suspended the work of two processing plants in Yakutia since March 12. Another one works at 50%.

“The demand for shipment of Kolmar coal in April is 573 thousand tons, Russian Railways has agreed to ship only 428 thousand tons (75%) today. The deficit is 144.4 thousand tons,” Mr. Borisov said at a meeting of the State Council in the direction of “Energy” (quote from website government of Yakutia).

Dzhulustan Borisov clarified that Kolmar provides about 6.7 thousand jobs and remains one of the largest taxpayers in the region. He also added that at a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Yuri Trutnev, they talked about the need to ensure the export of coal in order to avoid the suspension of enterprises.

Kuzbass Governor Sergei Tsivilev also spoke at the meeting of the State Council. He called the situation in the coal industry difficult due to lower world prices, restrictions on exports by rail and changes in customs regulations. All this, according to him, negatively affects the budgets of coal-mining regions.
