In September 1902, the first ever science fiction film was released. A feature short film on a space story was shot by the pioneer of cinema Marie-Georges-Jean Méliès. “Screen Wizard” came up with several tricks and special effects that are still in demand. Some of the director’s films were requisitioned during the First World War, others burned down when Méliès decided to destroy his studio with all the scenery and finished works. Only 10 years ago, an accidentally found copy of the futuristic extravaganza in coloring was restored.
