The cumulative effect of investments in the construction of the M-12 Vostok highway will amount to 1.8 trillion rubles. in 20 years, which will recoup the investment many times over, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

During construction, 335 billion rubles will be paid. taxes, and the new highway will create about 80,000 jobs, the Deputy Prime Minister added.
Khusnullin also told, that despite the opening of traffic along the section from Moscow to Arzamas, work on other sections of the highway did not stop for a minute. So on the longest bridge as part of the M-12 – across the Volga with a length of about 3.4 km – work is already underway to lay asphalt pavement.
“In October we plan to complete the laying of asphalt concrete and prepare the facility for motorists,” Khusnullin added.
On September 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched traffic on the fourth section of the M-12, which extended the route of the new highway from Moscow to Arzamas in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The active part of M-12 now connects Moscow, Moscow, Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions. Its total length is 415.58 km. The cost of travel along the highway from the capital to Arzamas for cars will be about 2,800 rubles, for trucks – about 6,000 rubles, said Konstantin Makiev, deputy chairman of the board of the Avtodor Group of Companies, on September 8. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, in turn, said that about 40,000 – 50,000 cars and about 20,000 passengers of urban public transport will pass along the section of the M-12 highway in the capital every day.
By the end of 2024, M-12 should connect the capital with Kazan and Yekaterinburg, almost halving the travel time between these cities, and in the future, reach Vladivostok.
