Khinshtein responded to criticism of the series “The Boy’s Word”

The series “The Boy’s Word” can be called realistic and reflecting the situation of the late 1980s. This statement was made by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein in his telegram channel.

He noted that the film was shot “as it really was, and maybe even a little better.”

“I don’t get the feeling that the series promotes criminal culture. Even before its launch, we met with the producers of the films and talked about the inadmissibility of promoting criminal subcultures, that is, about the formation of their positive image,” he wrote.

As a series that, on the contrary, promotes the criminal subculture, he named “Brigade”. According to him, those who watched it did not pay attention to the fact that the heroes were bandits. According to Khinshtein, they were seen as noble, strong and kind people.

“I don’t think that people, children, including teenagers, who watch the series “The Boy’s Word” will want to follow the fate of the heroes – after all, it is not going well for them,” noted Alexander Khinshtein.

The parliamentarian said that it is necessary to tell today’s children and teenagers how the country and their peers lived 30-40 years ago. In addition, he noted, the series raises issues that are still relevant today – teenage cruelty, misunderstanding on the part of adults, the desire to express oneself.

“The dissatisfaction and attempts to link the increase in juvenile crime with this series, in my opinion, are poorly justified. Because according to this logic, any creative technique that can shock the viewer can be completely prohibited,” concluded the chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
