But in May of this year, Nikolai Kolesov, General Director of Russian Helicopters, stated (according to a video on the website of the President of Tatarstan) that Kazan Helicopter Plant was provided with orders for 2022 and 2023. in the amount of 111 and 106 aircraft, respectively, while earlier the company produced 200 helicopters per year.
Kazan Helicopter Plant specializes in the production of three types of helicopters: the medium Mi-8/17, the Ansat light helicopter and the Mi-38, a helicopter with a larger payload than the Mi-17. “In the last 2-3 years, the annual output did not exceed 50 cars per year. The main bet was placed on civilian equipment, including Ansat ambulance helicopters,” says a former top manager of Kazan Helicopter Plant. According to him, light helicopters continue to be produced in “some quantities” as there is still a small stock of Canadian Pratt & Whitney engines.
