Kazakhstan will remove restrictions on the export of flour and grain

From September 10, Kazakhstan, the largest grain producer in Central Asia, will remove restrictions on the export of wheat and flour. However, the government of the republic will introduce quotas for the export of large and small cattle.

“A good grain harvest is expected in Kazakhstan. This year it is planned to harvest more than 13 million tons of wheat, which exceeds last year’s harvest by 12%,” explains the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan to remove export restrictions in a press release on website cabinet.

“A decision was made to establish a quota for the export of steers in the amount of 60 thousand heads, or 9% of the total livestock, as well as 120 thousand heads of rams, or 10% of the total livestock,” the terms of the quota for the export of cattle are specified.

Ministry of Agriculture introduced restrictions on the export of flour and grain in early April, then the decision was explained by considerations of protecting the domestic market. The ban on the export of cattle from Kazakhstan was in effect from January 21 to July 21, 2022.
