Kazakhstan sent oil from Aktau to Baku for the first time from Kashagan across the Caspian Sea

Oil from Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field has been transported for the first time from the port city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, via the Caspian Sea. About it reported Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO).
The tanker “Akademik Khoshbakht Yusifzade” was loaded with 6.9 thousand tons of crude oil. It will deliver oil to Azerbaijan’s Sangachal terminal via the new route, ASCO reports.
The recoverable reserves of Kashagan are approximately 9-13 billion barrels (1-2 billion tons) of oil, informs operating company North Caspian Operating Company.
At the end of 2022, the Kazakh national company Kazmunaigas signed an agreement with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan on the transportation of oil in the amount of 1.5 million tons per year. We are talking, among other things, about trans-Caspian transportation from Aktau to Baku of oil from the Tengiz field, informs Sputnik Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan has two oil pipelines: Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Supsa, which also can be potentially used for transportation of Kazakh oil.
Main export route for Kazakh oil remains Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
