Energy Minister of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov said that for his country the fair price for oil is from $65 per barrel.
“It all depends on how the situation develops (in Ukraine — “b”.). The only fair corridor depends on each country. In the case of Kazakhstan, it should be more than $65 per barrel,” Mr. Akchulakov said. “RIA News” on the sidelines of the international energy conference CERAWeek, held in the United States.
On December 5, 2022, the price ceiling for oil from Russia at $60 per barrel came into force, which was introduced, in particular, by the EU and G7 countries. On the same day, an embargo on offshore oil supplies from Russia to the EU came into force.
On January 11, Mr. Akchulakov announced that Kazakhstan was ready to export up to 6 million tons of oil to Germany. According to him, Russia gave permission for this. January 29 Transneft received an application from Kazakhstan for pumping oil to Germany via Druzhba. It included the reservation of additional capacities of the oil pipeline in the amount of 1.2 million tons for 2023.
In February, Kazakhstan began the first deliveries via the Druzhba pipeline to Germany, replacing Russian oil with a German refinery. At the same time, Russia stopped pipeline oil supplies to Poland: the Russian authorities made changes to export schedules, not allowing Tatneft to continue fulfilling the contract with the Polish Orlen. Thus, shipments of Russian oil via the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline to Europe have completely stopped, but they are still being shipped to Slovakia and Hungary via the southern branch.
