Kazakh authorities suspended access to Yandex.kz website – Kommersant

“Yandex Kazakhstan” did not open in Kazakhstan due to “delegation”. The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the country reported that the operation of the Yandex.kz domain was suspended due to violation of the rules. This was reported by the Kazakh portal Nur. The domain has now been restored.

When trying to connect to Yandex.kz with a Kazakh IP, the message “cannot access the site” appeared.

“From August 9, 2023, the operation of the www.yandex.kz domain name was suspended for hosting an Internet resource on hardware and software complexes outside the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan said in response to a request from Nur.

Later, Yandex reported RBCthat the work of services in Kazakhstan has been restored. They added that they are negotiating with the authorities of the country in order to develop the necessary solutions within the framework of the requirements of the legislation of Kazakhstan.
