By September 2024, Kamaz will produce 12 more unmanned trucks for transportation along the M-11 Neva highway, TASS writes, citing a source close to the Ministry of Transport. Currently, 9 unmanned vehicles are involved in cargo transportation on the M-11 highway – 6 from Kamaz and 3 from Sberavtotech.

The movement of unmanned trucks was launched on the highway in the summer of 2023. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev, stated that the number of such trucks on the highway is planned to increase to 43 by the end of the year.

Kamaz is creating unmanned vehicles based on the Kamaz-54901 tractor. The company’s unmanned trucks operate using hubs, which are used to transfer traction to a tractor moving in unmanned mode. In the summer of 2022, Kama announced plans to release the first autonomous mining dump trucks.
