Mass production of the Chukavin sniper rifle (SHF) has been launched in Russia, President of the Kalashnikov Concern (part of Rostec) Alan Lushnikov told TASS. He said that the rifle “successfully passed” state tests.
“Microwave is being manufactured in the interests of the customer. The design documentation of the product was assigned the letter “O1″ for mass production,” the head of the concern said at the IDEX 2023 exhibition.
SHF is a semi-automatic sniper rifle. It is designed for two types of cartridges – 7.62×54 mm and 7.62×51 mm (.308 Win). In caliber 7.62×54 mm, it is compatible with magazines from the Dragunov sniper rifle, which it is supposed to replace.
In November 2022, the Ministry of Defense concluded contracts for the supply of microwaves. The number of rifles that will be supplied to the Russian troops was not specified. New semi-automatic microwave received for service in the special forces of the Russian army stationed in Ukraine in September.
