Julia Ormond accused film producer Weinstein of sexual assault

Hollywood actress Julia Ormond has accused film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault committed about 30 years ago. She also accused CAA, Disney and Miramax of inaction.
Ormond said Weinstein physically assaulted her after a business meeting in 1995 and then negatively impacted her career in a subsequent confrontation. The producer’s lawyer, in turn, said that his client denies the charges.
In 2017, actress Ashley Judd announced Weinstein’s sexual harassment of actresses, after which several dozen women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rose McGowan, brought accusations against him. In 2020, the court found two counts of the criminal case proven, finding the producer guilty of first-degree and third-degree sexual assault. Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison. In 2023, Weinstein was sentenced to an additional 16 years in prison for rape, forcible oral copulation and “penetration with a foreign object.” The prosecution in this case was based on the testimony of four women who accused Weinstein of crimes committed from 2004 to 2013.
Julia Ormond gained fame in the 90s, starring in the films “Legends of the Fall” with Brad Pitt, “First Knight” with Richard Girr and Sean Connery and “Sabrina” with Harrison Ford. In 1998, Ormond played the main female role in the film “The Barber of Siberia” by Nikita Mikhalkov.
