Jennifer Lopez returns to stage in fight for Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez is slowly but surely stirring up public interest in herself, appearing with one or another provocative video. This is how the pop diva prepares the ground for the release of her ninth numbered album “This Is Me… Now” (“Here I am… Now”), the first in the last 10 years. Provocativeness on the verge of a physiological foul has always, however, been the strong point of the pop diva, if we remember that many years ago it was not even the life that was insured for millions of dollars, but the exclusively precious bottom of the singer and actress.

The other day, the rather toothless title single of this album was published, with a mid-tempo and little memorable melody. But the previous single “Can’t Get Enough,” for which two videos were shot, immediately made pop singers around the world worry.

Firstly, it is memorable for its melody and lyrics; it’s not for nothing that both Timbaland and Timberlake are listed as authors. Secondly, the accompanying videos caused a lot of noise in the press and various pop fan chats. In the wake of the popularity of gender-blurring robe images, the flagship of which is Billie Eilish, J.Lo’s overtly sexy and stunning openness of absolutely everything is a bone in the throat for adherents of the puritanical fashion for collars buttoned to the ears and dirty stretched T-shirts. And here, you know, it’s not just a bra, but also with accentuated nipples, like codpieces on men’s underpants. Fashion was invented by Kim Kardashian, another hot thing, and J.Lo creatively picked it up and hit the bull’s eye.

Contrary to the “recognized” stylists who, to please brands on all corners, conjure an “unsanitary” X-shaped silhouette that highlights the breasts and butt, the 54-year-old superdiva, who finally married the man of her dreams – actor Ben Affleck, dictates her fashion for the good old super sexy style. The new album is even officially dedicated to Affleck, whom the passionate J. Lo finally dragged down the aisle in 2022 after a long separation of 18 years. A breathtaking love story!

The first video for the song “Can’t Get Enough” was just about a wedding. The plot has a sugar-syrup style and a glamorous spirit, oozing sweetness from every pixel on the screen. Borrowing in all seriousness (and perhaps as a joke) the choreography of Bollywood, the bride and groom rhythmically dance in the garden or in the banquet hall, and the guests jump around like backup dancers. In principle, nothing special, except for one thing – the bride dances, and the grooms change all the time. Actually, the moral is simple and prosaic: no matter how much the girl swears that he is her one and only, a replacement will be found quickly and in the very foreseeable future.

The second video was filmed in a duet performance of this song with rapper Latto from Atlanta (originally Mulatto – “Miss Mulatto,” a local TV star who won a popular rap show). In the very first frames, lying by the panoramic window overlooking New York and looking in the mirror (“My light, mirror, tell me…”), J.Lo invitingly caresses… herself. This mise-en-scène, rhythmically repeating, runs like a dotted line throughout the entire video. At the peak of this process, the singer, however, suddenly jumps out of bed and immediately – from the skyscraper in which she was reclining, straight onto the street, where lean glass washers and other handymen are waiting for her with the goal, of course, to dance beautifully with her.

Both on the street and in the garden with a swimming pool, into which the singer magically teleports, leaving the creators of both “Back to the Future” and “Slithers” with their noses, she is surrounded, of course, only by men. The singer made a special number of the program a scene in which she rinses under a running shower against the backdrop of a pool filled with handsome men floating on inflatable rings.

By the way, where is Latto? She appears rarely, but aptly – in special inserts where she and JLo together in tight red leggings against a red background dance writhingly and recite the usual unkind lyrics for rap. The duet twists of 54-year-old J. Lo with 25-year-old Latto take place in a very creative color contrast – red on red, which, apparently, should also depict the processes of some kind of physical passion.

Compared to all this “fire,” the just released lyric video for the single “This Is Me… Now” looks very sad: the text is against the backdrop of specks of light, flying petals and drawings of constellations.

The upcoming album has an outstanding backstory. In November 2002, Lopez became engaged to Ben Affleck. The beautiful couple was so beloved by the press that their bonded union was nicknamed “Bennifer.” At the same time, J.Lo released her third studio album “This Is Me… Then” (“Here I am… Then”), which was dedicated, of course, to Him. The release became one of the best-selling in the pop diva’s career. But in 2004, the couple separated without ever getting married. This time everything is different – the wedding took place before the album dedicated to the groom was released. The release will mark the singer’s return to the music scene after a nine-year break – the magical power of love, then! AKA’s previous album was released in 2014. The main thing is that after the record the couple does not run away again. After all, history is prone to repetition.
