Amazon founder Jeff Bezos sold almost 12 million shares of this company worth $2.04 billion. He announced this in reporting to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) later this week. The sale itself took place on February 7 and 8. At the end of December, Jeff Bezos owned 988 million Amazon shares, just under 10% of all shares.

At the beginning of February, a businessman announced plans to sell up to 50 million shares of the company by the end of January 2025. The market value of such a package is now about $8.6 billion. Over the past 22 years, Jeff Bezos has sold Amazon shares for a total of more than $30 billion. Of these, shares worth $20 billion were sold in just two years – in 2020 and 2012.

Mr. Bezos does not indicate the reasons for the recent sale of shares. Meanwhile, after the sale, the size of his fortune increased to $200 billion, and by this indicator he is estimated Bloomberg, has moved even closer to Elon Musk, who owns $209 billion and is the richest person in the world. At the same time, the fortune of the Tesla founder decreased by $29 billion in February after Tesla shares fell in price by 27% after blocking the court paid Mr. Musk a bonus in the amount of $55.8 billion.
