Japanese companies have withdrawn from the capital of a Russian lumber manufacturer

The Japanese companies Mitsui, Tajima Lumber and Tajima Kosan became co-owners of one of the largest Russian lumber production enterprises – TM-Baikal LLC (Irkutsk region). According to information “Interfax”the owner of the enterprise was LLC Shipping Company Yakutsk, part of the Starway Group of Companies.
“The Starway Group of Companies also includes Rechservice LLC, Technological Transport Management LLC, Osetrovsky River Port JSC (located on the Lena River in Ust-Kut, it is strategic for the northern delivery of the Irkutsk region and Yakutia, as well as construction gas pipeline “Power of Siberia”.— “Ъ”),” the agency reports.
The TM Baikal company declared revenue of 1.7 billion rubles in 2023. The company is engaged in the production and wholesale of lumber. The production volume of lumber supplied to Asian and CIS countries is 115 thousand cubic meters per year.
Kommersant sent a request to Starway Group of Companies, but representatives of the holding have not yet commented on the situation.
