Japanese anime songwriter Ichiro Mizuki dies

Japanese singer-songwriter Ichiro Mizuki (Toshio Hayakawa) has died at the age of 74 after a long battle with lung cancer. In his homeland, he was known as “the king of anime songs”.
He passed away last week, according to Mizuki’s promotion agency. The composer gained worldwide fame due to the fact that he wrote the title compositions for the animated series Mazinger Z (1972-1974) and Space Pirate Captain Harlock (“Space Pirate Captain Harlock”, 1977-1979).
During his long career, the composer created over 1.2 thousand compositions.
Earlier it became known that the St. Petersburg artist Dmitry Grozov rethought and drew in anime style scenes from the films “Office Romance”, “Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath”, “Prisoner of the Caucasus” and “Love and Doves”.
