Japan has restricted the export of equipment for the production of semiconductors

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Yasutoshi Nishimura today, March 31, informed at a press conference on imposing restrictions on the export of 23 types of equipment for the production of semiconductors. Formally, the restrictions are not directed against any particular country, however, according to experts, in fact, their goal is to complicate the export of equipment to China.

Chinese companies have been in a difficult position for years due to US sanctions that make it difficult to access chips and equipment for their production. Last year the US government tightened restrictions by barring US companies from selling US-based semiconductors to Chinese companies without obtaining export licenses. The fact that Japan may impose restrictions on the import of semiconductors and related equipment has been reported since the beginning of the year: then became knownthat negotiations on the introduction of restrictions are being carried out by representatives of the United States, Japan and the Netherlands.
