Izvestia: Toyota resumed deliveries to Russia of spare parts not subject to sanctions

At the end of 2022, the Toyota concern resumed deliveries to Russia of spare parts that were not subject to sanctions, and also allowed its dealers to parallel import parts that were affected by the restrictions. About it learned “Izvestia” from the course of the company’s litigation with the “Public Consumer Initiative” (OPI) and Rospotrebnadzor.

At the disposal of the publication was a letter to partners, signed by the general manager of the department for the supply of spare parts and warehouse operations “Toyota Motor” by Andrey Shcherbakov. The document, which the automaker presented in court, said that Toyota has resumed the direct supply of parts, and also approved parallel imports for dealers. In court, Toyota Motor confirmed this information by showing customs declarations, the OPI said.

In the press service of the Russian “daughter” Toyota Izvestia was told that the company is indeed supplying a number of parts to Russia again, so far in test mode. They added that the name and quantity of spare parts change depending on the delivery, explaining that the main problem for full-fledged deliveries is “a serious disruption of supply chains.” The company declined to comment on information about parallel imports.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that they do not plan to exclude Toyota products from parallel imports.

OPI Chairman Oleg Pavlov noted that the actions of the automaker only confirm the possibility of deliveries to the Russian Federation. According to him, other companies that refer to “mythical difficulties” deliberately violate the rights of Russians and try to avoid responsibility.

Toyota suspended the work of the plant in St. Petersburg in March 2022. This decision was made due to violations in the logistics supply chains of parts.

At the end of September, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the company had decided to close the enterprise. Information confirmed at Toyota. The company noted that after six months of inactivity, they see no prospects for resuming the work of the plant.

At the same time, Toyota continued to support the dealer network to serve Russian customers of Toyota and Lexus. An Izvestia source close to Toyota Motor said that the company still maintains the status of an official supplier of components.
