Izvestia: Russia proposed to ban foreign freight aggregators

The Public Consumer Initiative (CPI) has proposed banning the activities of freight aggregators with foreign participation in Russia, as they possess confidential information about the movement of goods related to the defense industry. About it write “Izvestia” with reference to the organization’s appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Digital Development and the FSB.

“Using the example of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, we have already drawn attention to the problem of freight aggregators and the risks to the life and health of citizens, as well as to critical infrastructure, which are caused by their uncontrolled activities. In this context, the presence on the Russian market of foreign aggregators that provide services to domestic companies, including those working for the needs of the defense complex, deserves special attention.

In particular, OPI drew attention to the digital logistics platform offered by the German IT company Transporeon to Russian clients, among which are the largest domestic companies from various backbone industries. At the same time, the work of this service is associated with numerous violations, the authors of the initiative say.

Western intelligence services and other interested parties, according to the OPI, can receive through this company information not only on the state of various sectors of the Russian economy, but also on measures to ensure the country’s defense capability. The head of the OPI, Oleg Pavlov, in a commentary to the publication, noted that foreign aggregators occupy a third of the Russian market, while they do not bear any responsibility for violations of the storage of personal data.

Earlier December 21 State Duma accepted in the third reading, a law regulating online classifieds services (classifieds), which are visited by more than 100,000 users per day. According to the law, now only a Russian legal entity or a citizen of the Russian Federation can act as the main owner of classifieds. At the same time, he should not have the citizenship of another country.
