“Izvestia” learned about the shortage of casings for sausages and sausages

Meat producers are faced with a shortage of casings, which are used in the manufacture of sausages and frankfurters. About it reported Izvestia, citing a letter from the National Union of Meat Processors (NSM) to the government.

This is a fibrous shell that stretches better than others, and is also the most durable and water and smoke resistant. As noted in the NSM, 90% of raw smoked sausages and servlets are packed in it.

It is specified that the shortage is caused by anti-Russian sanctions, which blocked the supply of film produced at seven European factories, including in Belgium and Germany. In Russia, it is not produced, stressed in the NSM. As a result, the delivery time increased to ten months, and the producers themselves were forced to purchase products for future use a year in advance. This increased their costs by 25-70%.

The NSM asked the government to extend for another year the validity of short-term concessional and investment loans, which expired in 2022. “Producers need financial support to form a commodity stock of scarce raw materials,” said the director general of the Duda meat processing plant. The press service of the Cabinet reported that the letter had not been received.

The Ministry of Agriculture noted that there are now enough products at enterprises for uninterrupted work. The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that the capacities of Russian enterprises fully meet the demand of meat processors. “There is no shortage of such products. Other types of casings – protein and cellulose – are supplied from friendly countries, parallel imports are also possible,” the ministry noted.
