Izvestia learned about Apple’s refusal to renew contracts with service centers in Russia

The American corporation Apple has decided not to renew contracts with Russian service centers, which expire at the end of March. About it reported Izvestia, citing sources.

It is clarified that from April, all devices that need to be carried out under warranty will be sent to a representative office abroad. As a result, the repair time can increase up to two months.

According to Anna Sarbukova, a leading legal adviser at EBR law firm, one of the foreign partners with whom Apple will conclude a contract for warranty repairs will subsequently “sign agreements with Russian authorized centers, where the Russian user will be able to apply for warranty support as before.”

According to Izvestia, such a scheme is necessary in order to import replacement iPhones into service centers, which are issued for the duration of the repair of the device. The new US sanctions, which were introduced on February 24, affected the supply of smartphones over $300 to Russia.

It is clarified that only equipment that was purchased in Russia before March 2022 or abroad at any time falls under the warranty repair. In the case of equipment that was sold under the parallel import scheme, the level of service support will depend solely on the seller.

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the largest equipment manufacturers suspended their activities in Russia. March 2, 2022 American company Apple restricted import of products, sales and operation of Apple Pay in Russia. In this regard, parallel imports were allowed in Russia, the relevant law signed Russian President Vladimir Putin in June. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved a list of goods for parallel imports that can be imported into the Russian Federation without the consent of the manufacturer or copyright holder. It included products from electronics manufacturers (Apple, SamsungAsus, Intel, Sony, etc.).
