Italy will be represented at Eurovision by San Remo winner Marco Mengoni

34-year-old singer-songwriter and dubbing actor Marco Mengoni won the 73rd annual festival of Italian pop music “San Remo” with the song Due Vite (“Two Lives”). Thus, Mengoni will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, which will be held in May in Liverpool (UK) on behalf of Ukraine.
Mengoni has already won the San Remo in 2013 and with the song “L’essenziale” went to Malmö in Sweden for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. However, there he took only seventh place. In addition, Marco Mengoni in 2009 became the absolute winner of the Italian version of the X Factor talent show, and the following year he was recognized as the best European artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Marco Mengoni has a special timbre of voice, usually defined as soul with pop-rock accents. The musician himself said that the Beatles, David Bowie, Michael Jackson and Renato Zero had the greatest influence on his work.
