Italian Eni has started arbitration proceedings due to a decrease in supplies from Gazprom

The Italian oil and gas group Eni is conducting arbitration proceedings in connection with the reduction in gas supplies from Gazprom. This became known from the company’s management’s responses to shareholders.
“The reduction carried out by Gazprom Export is the subject of confidential arbitration,” the response, which cites Bloomberg. The Italian company noted that the contracts with Gazprom remain in force.
Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi said at the end of April that Russian gas supplies to Italy had dropped to almost zero. The company reported that deliveries began to decline in the summer of 2022. Eni aims to completely abandon Russian gas by 2025 at the expense of other producers – Algeria, Egypt, Qatar and others. Before Russia sent troops to Ukraine, the share of Russian gas in Italy was about 40%.
