The head of the State Duma Committee on Energy, United Russia member Pavel Zavalny said that, in his opinion, it is “impossible” to maintain low gasoline prices in Russia. He believes that the legislation introduced by the Russian government will not help to do this. ban for fuel export.

“In the context of a reduction in payments for the damper and an increase in the tax burden in the form of an increase in the mineral extraction tax, it is necessary to increase payments for the damper in order to subsidize supplies to the domestic market, but the opposite happened,” the parliamentarian told reporters (quoted from “Interfax”). He believes that in order to stabilize fuel prices in the Russian Federation, “it is necessary to adjust the tax maneuver in terms of customs duties, dampers and compensation mechanisms” taking into account the current situation. The deputy also believes that the government-imposed ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel will last “a week or two, a month at most.”
This week the Russian government it’s gone to take radical measures to stabilize prices for petroleum products – from September 21, it temporarily banned the export of commercial gasoline and diesel fuel. According to the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the introduced ban will remain in effect “indefinitely.”
In mid-August of this year, Russian farmers were faced with a sharp rise in prices for diesel fuel and interruptions in its supply. According to Rosstat, retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel increased by 9.4% from the beginning of the year to September 18.
