It became known what the monument to Etush and Lanovoy in Gelendzhik will look like

It will open in the center of the city embankment at the end of November

The idea of ​​such a monument was not born by chance from the wives of artists – Irina Kupchenko and Elena Etush. Firstly, both artists loved to relax on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus in this cozy resort town. Secondly, on the local Avenue of Stars, stars were laid in their names for both Vakhtangov residents – in 2013 for Vladimir Abramovich, in 2019 for Vasily Semenovich. In addition, Vladimir Abramovich, starting in 2003, came to the Southern Nights film festival for several years. Since then, having fallen in love with Gelendzhik, every August he vacationed here with his wife Elena, repeating that “there is no other place to relax.”

The couple always vacationed in the same place – in the Lomonosov sanatorium, where they stayed in the same room year after year. The last time I came here was in 2017. And Vasily Semyonovich generally considered himself a true Gelendzhi citizen. In the city he had a favorite route, as he said: “From Alexander Sergeevich to Mikhail Yuryevich.” That is, from a stone with a memorial sign in honor of the 200th anniversary of Pushkin to a monument to Lermontov. It is not known for certain whether the poet was here, but in his story “Taman” you can find a quote on behalf of Pechorin: “Tomorrow I’m going to Gelendzhik by boat.”

So, Vasily Semyonovich and Vladimir Abramovich, who never vacationed together in Gelendzhik during their lifetime, are now frozen in bronze on the same bench, animatedly talking about something. At Lanovoy’s feet is his beloved Yorkshire terrier dog. There will be a sign between the artists with the inscription, but its contents are kept secret.

The author of the monument is Moscow sculptor Alexander Doronin. He has already sculpted Etush in the form of Karabas Barabas from the film “The Adventure of Pinocchio,” which now stands in the village of Dolginikha near Moscow, where the artist has a dacha. The monument to the two artists was cast in Moscow, it has already arrived in Gelendzhik and is waiting for the hour of its opening. It remains to add that the city sculpture was made with the money of the actors’ wives, and the Department of Culture of the resort town covered the costs of its installation and opening.
