The former deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta.ru, Irina Sigova, headed the editorial office of the publication, the press service of Rambler & Co reported. Since April 2023, she has been the acting editor-in-chief of Gazeta.ru after care from the post of Sergei Rybka.
Irina Sigova started her career at Gazeta.ru in 2007 as a correspondent and later left the publication. After that, in different years she worked as the chief editor of the Vesti FM Internet projects, the TASS website and the Profile magazine, and was also the head of the Sputnik Abkhazia publishing department. Since 2020, she returned to the publication, taking the post of deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta.ru. She worked at Gazeta.ru for a total of almost 9 years.
According to the information on website Internet publications, the only material authored by Irina Sigova, released this year, is an interview with Viktor Bout entitled “If there was a chance, I would run without any doubt.”
That Sergei Rybka left the post of editor-in-chief of Gazeta.ru, it became known on April 25. The press service of Rambler & Co reported that he would continue his career outside the media holding. He made the decision to leave his post in early March, but in agreement with the leadership, he worked until mid-April, the press service said.
In 2019, 46.5% of Alexander Mamut’s Rambler Group was bought out by Sberbank, then a new board of directors of the media holding was formed. After that, Sberbank became a co-owner of the Lenta.ru, Gazeta.ru, Championat online publications, the Rambler agency, the Afisha.ru portal, and the Livejournal.com blog platform.
The Gazeta.ru publication was founded in 1999, then Lenta.ru and Vesti.ru separated from the project. The chief editors of Gazeta.ru were Svetlana Babaeva, Svetlana Lolaeva, Mikhail Kotov, Mikhail Mikhailin, Alexander Pisarev, Vladislav Borodulin and Anton Nosik.
