Investigators began an investigation after a plane rolled off the runway in Saransk

Investigators from the Central Interregional Transport Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated an investigation after a Superjet aircraft skidded off the runway at Saransk airport. There were 93 people on board, no one was injured.

“Investigators from the Central MSUT of the Investigative Committee of Russia are clarifying all the circumstances and causes of the incident. An investigation into this fact is being carried out, based on the results of which a procedural decision will be made,” the department said in a statement.

On the evening of February 5, a Superjet plane, flying from Moscow to Saransk, taxiing at the airfield rolled out off the runway. Rossiya Airlines explained the incident by the discrepancy between the actual condition of the runway and the stated parameters. There were 93 people on board: 6 crew members and 87 passengers, including Honored Trainer of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova.
