Interfax: Yerevan Brandy Factory did not stop deliveries to Russia

The Yerevan Brandy Factory, which produces cognac under the Ararat brand (part of the French Pernod Ricard), did not stop the supply of products to Russia. About it informs “Interfax” with reference to the representative of the enterprise.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, the information about the suspension of the export of the Armenian cognac “Ararat” to Russia is not true. “Yerevan Brandy Factory continues to work as usual, fulfilling all its obligations to all partners in all countries,” the source said.
The representative of the company specified that the partner of the plant, the Russian division of the parent company Pernod Ricard Rouss, will complete its activities. The Yerevan Brandy Factory plans to adhere to the “principle of continuous availability of its products to the consumer,” the source added.
On May 18, it became known about the termination of the supply of products of the Yerevan Brandy Factory. Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan told at a meeting of the commission of the Armenian Parliament on economic issues. “I have not received official information yet, but it seems that it is already official that the Yerevan Brandy Factory will stop exporting to Russia,” Kerobyan said. 80% of the plant’s products went to the Russian market.
In early May, Pernod Ricard (brands Absolut, Jameson, Ararat) confirmed that it had stopped delivering products to Russia since the end of April. The company estimates that it may take several months to fully exit the market.
According to Vedomosti experts, the disappearance of Armenian products will not be noticeable for Russia because of worthy local alternatives. The interlocutors believe that restaurateurs will not feel a shortage of cognac products, since recently Russia has managed to establish the necessary production and achieve high quality products. Armenian cognac occupies only 10% of the Russian market.
