Interfax: Intesa bank can redeem Russian management

The Russian management headed by Antonio Fallico (citizen of Italy, lives and works in Russia for many years) can become the buyer of the “daughter” of the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo – JSC “Bank ”Intesa””. About it “Interfax” said two sources familiar with the discussion.
We are talking about the acquisition of 100% of the shares, the amount of the transaction is expected to be symbolic, one of the sources said. Also, the Italian group may retain an option to repurchase 51% of the JSC’s shares, another source said.
At the end of October, Intesa Bank was included in the list of credit institutions approved by President Vladimir Putin, whose capital can be withdrawn by unfriendly non-residents only with special permission.
Intesa Sanpaolo and Intesa could not be reached for comment. The Ministry of Finance did not answer the question whether a request for a deal had been filed.
The assets of Intesa as of September 30, 2021 amounted to 75.3 billion rubles. At the end of 2021, the bank ranks 67th in terms of assets in the Interfax-100 rating.
