“Inspiring!”: Alexander Lazarev spoke about his appointment as director of the Russian Army Theater

The famous Lenkomovite turned out to be not a timid person

Less than two days had passed before the main intrigue of the extraordinary congress of the STD was resolved – the leading actor of Lenkom, Alexander Lazarev, the successor of a wonderful dynasty, was invited by the chief director to the largest theater in the country and in Europe – the Theater of the Russian Army, on Suvorov Square.

Last Monday, the popular artist, whom Alexander Kalyagin, as the chairman of the STD, nominated at the congress as a candidate for his post, came to the microphone and sharply recused himself, saying literally the following:

“I thank San Sanych and everyone for their trust, but I cannot accept the offer, because the day before I received another offer – to head the theater.

Immediately, excited voices were heard from the seats: “Which one?”, “Lenkom?”, to which Lazarev briefly replied: “You’ll find out soon.” And then we found out.

Alexander Lazarev gave his first interview in his new position to Moskovsky Komsomolets.

— Sasha, congratulations. How unexpected was this offer for you – to become the chief director at the Army Theater?

– Such a proposal was made a little over a month ago, and it was not just unexpected, but out of the blue – something like that, I did not expect at all. During this month, I often met and talked with my superiors, delved into the essence of the issue and have already gotten used to it.

— Aren’t you afraid of such a large stage—would a tank drive through it?

– No, I’m not afraid at all. On the contrary, the scene was exactly one of those points that made me agree. The Army Theater is technically incredibly equipped, and there are colossal opportunities for imagination. And in this case, the size does not frighten, but inspires.

— Do you already have plans or a ready-made program?

— There are no specific plans – there are ideas. But it must, of course, be on a big stage and on a large scale.

– Last question. Will they give you a title?

– Of course not, these are jokes.
