Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov believes that Russian brands should use the Cyrillic alphabet more in their names. According to him, Russian industry has developed enough to come to this.

“Of course, we need new Russian industrial brands. There is no doubt that more and more of them will appear every year. There is already a whole galaxy of companies that produce products no worse, and often better, than their global competitors. However, many of our brands are still disguised as foreign ones, using names written in Latin,” said the Deputy Prime Minister at the industry day as part of the Russia exhibition.

“I believe that the level of maturity of domestic producers, and simple respect for their country, for their native language, allows us to count on a change in this approach,” said Denis Manturov. He called his “message to marketers and company leaders.”

Denis Manturov called himself a supporter of the Cyrillic alphabet in the names of Russian brands. This summer, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that AvtoVAZ replace the Latin alphabet in its names by replacing them with the Cyrillic alphabet. At the same time, the minister admitted that renaming could cost billions of rubles, and Russian companies need to maintain their export potential.
