Industrialists may not be able to meet emission quotas due to unavailability of foreign equipment

The unavailability of Western equipment now may prevent the largest Russian industrial enterprises from reaching the established quotas for emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. Almost all enterprises carrying out modernization were focused on such equipment. This is stated in a letter from the head of the RSPP Alexander Shokhin to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko dated December 26, 2022. The document is at the disposal of Vedomosti, its authenticity was confirmed by a source close to the RSPP.
“The consequence of this [недоступности импортного оборудования] are not only direct financial losses and the need for a lengthy redesign, but also, in general, an increase in the risks that analogues of the required equipment will not be found in principle, which means that the possibility of achieving the goals of the experiment on emission quotas by 2026 will be in doubt,” – noted the head of the RSPP.
