The network of fast food restaurants “Vkusno – i dotka” does not yet plan to enter Kazakhstan after the exit of McDonald’s. About this in a conversation with TASS informed representative of the press service “Tasty – and that’s it.”
“At the moment, we do not have relevant agreements with the management of the company that managed the McDonald’s business in Kazakhstan,” a representative of the press service of Vkusno – and that’s it, told TASS.
About what McDonald’s accepted the decision to curtail business in Kazakhstan “due to supply constraints” became known on 5 January. This was announced by the management company Food Solutions KZ LLP. According to Bloomberg, one of the reasons became inability to buy meat in Russia. It also proved unprofitable to purchase it from local or European suppliers due to high prices and transportation costs, which would have led to business at a loss.
McDonald’s has closed its restaurants in Russia since March 14, 2022, and on May 16, 2022, the company announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. In mid-May, the fast food chain announced the sale of 718 restaurants in Russia to local licensee Alexander Govor. The company reserved the option to buy the business back within 15 years. On June 12, 2022, the first 15 restaurants of the former McDonald’s reopened in Russia under the Vkusno — i Tochka brand.
December 12, 2022 Oleg Paroev, General Director of the Vkusno – i Tochka network informedthat the company is exploring the possibility of opening restaurants in Abkhazia, but the legal conflict and problems with logistics make this process difficult. According to him, according to the agreement with McDonald’s, the company cannot open its restaurants in countries where its predecessor is located. However, the next day, the Trade Representative of Abkhazia in Russia, Oleg Bartsits informedthat “Delicious – and that’s it” may appear in Abkhazia this year. According to him, the franchise has already been acquired.
