The Ukrainian authorities have begun the nationalization of Alfa-Bank Ukraine, said Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the presidential office. He noted that the credit institution was renamed Sens-bank.
“Alfa-Bank has already been rebranded, it is already Sens-Bank today. They are already undergoing procedures for nationalization as such,” said Mr. Podoliak on the air of the telethon (quoted from TASS). According to him, the procedure will not be as complicated as during the nationalization of Privatbank, since Alfa-Bank has fewer individuals who have deposits. Mr. Podolyak claims that there is no panic among depositors and legal entities associated with the credit institution.
In October reportedthat nationalization will take place for 1 hryvnia. Ukraine refused to negotiate with the owners of the bank, Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven, as Ukrainian sanctions were imposed against them. Mr. Friedman at the same time declared about willingness to give her daughter free of charge. Alfa-Bank Ukraine has been operating under the name of Sens-Bank since December 1.
