Acting head of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Leonid Pasechnik decided to turn off the mobile Internet in the region due to shelling. On May 12 and 13, the capital of the republic, the city of Luhansk, was shelled twice by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“I ask the residents to be understanding. The most important thing now is to save the lives and health of people, especially the lives of our children,” quotes Mr. Pasechnik “Luganskinformtsentr”.
For how long it was decided to turn off mobile Internet is not specified. Local residents in social networks report that it is no longer possible to use mobile Internet in the territory of the LPR.
The ISS mobile operator operating in the republic has already declaredthat “due to the decision of the leadership of the Republic, the provision of data transmission services via the mobile radiotelephone network (Mobile Internet) has been suspended since today.”
On May 13, the LPR authorities reported that the Ukrainian army had carried out strikes on the village of Yubileyny in Luhansk. According to the representative office of the republic in the JCCC, the attack on the village was carried out using a Storm Shadow cruise missile. The city was shelled for the second time in the last 24 hours – the night before, six children were injured as a result of the attack.
In the republic, due to security problems, already turned off Internet. For example, this happened in February of this year. In April, Mr. Pasechnik said that the Internet had begun to be turned on.
