In the Leningrad region, employees of the closed IKEA Dybenko store held an hour-long warning strike. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the organizer of the trade union of the forest industries Alexander Illarionov. Employees of IKEA Dybenko demand collective bargaining with the employer, this is due to the liquidation of the legal entity IKEA Dom.
“Since there were workers left who did not want to quit, they held an hour-long warning strike on the basis of the Labor Code in response to IKEA’s avoidance of collective bargaining,” Mr. Illarionov said. He also said that tomorrow, December 2, employees of IKEA factories in the Leningrad and Kirov regions will send a number of requirements to their parent companies with subsequent transfer to the office of the parent company IKEA.
“They relate to the accrual of the annual “Thank you” bonus, guarantees for the preservation of jobs (when selling Russian IKEA factories.— “b”) or guarantees of receiving eight salaries upon dismissal, ”said the organizer of the trade union of the forest industries.
Ikea Dom LLC managed the IKEA retail network in Russia. In August, IKEA began the liquidation of its “daughter”. IKEA has also cut staff at its four Russian manufacturing plants and has begun the process of finding a new owner for them. The company plans to find a buyer by early 2023.
