The survey of Andrey Rublev’s “Trinity” was completed at the Grabar Research and Restoration Center. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the head of the department for scientific and methodological work and exhibition activities of the center Elena Prokhanova. There are no survey results yet.
“The survey is over. Now the stage of analysis of the received information. On its basis, a program of further activities will be developed,” said Elena Prokhanova.
A date for the extended restoration council has not yet been set. The icon restoration council will include about ten leading organizations in the field of art, including the State Hermitage and the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as Tretyakov specialists who have worked with Troitsa for a long time. At the council, the experts will decide what to do with the icon in the future.
On May 15, a message appeared on the Russian Orthodox Church website stating that President Vladimir Putin ordered that Andrei Rublev’s “Trinity” be handed over to the church. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the icon, painted in the first quarter of the 15th century, has been in the museum. The agreement on its transfer to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra was signed on July 12. According to him, the icon will remain in the church for 49 years with the possibility of extension.
