The Moscow diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) announced that daily access to the Trinity icon in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior would be reduced by two hours. According to sources “RIA News”the decision was made in connection with the extension of the stay of the “Trinity” in the temple and the absence of queues for the icon.
“In order to ensure the temperature and humidity regime, technical breaks in access to the icon for up to 60 minutes are possible,”— declared in the diocese, specifying that from June 23 the icon will be available to believers from 10:00 to 17:00 (previously, access to the icon was allowed until 19:00).
June 16 Russian Orthodox Church extended the period of stay of the “Trinity” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior until the day of the celebration of the memory of St. Sergius of Radonezh on July 18. Earlier it was reported that the icon will stay in the main church of the Russian Orthodox Church until June 18.
On May 15, the Russian Orthodox Church announced that Vladimir Putin had decided to return the icon to the church. The next day, Patriarch Kirill asked the presidential administration to coordinate the transfer of the Trinity to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The director of the Pushkin Museum, Elizaveta Likhacheva, said that the transfer of the Trinity from the Tretyakov Gallery carries risks for the icon. The Commission of Experts appealed to the Ministry of Culture with a request to prevent the destruction of the Trinity. On June 4, the patriarch said that the “Trinity” would stay in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior “for a certain time.”
