The Ministry of Economic Development and External Relations of the Amur Region asked the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation to introduce restrictions on the sale of ice cream with alcohol. Rosalkogoltabakcontrol supported the initiative.
The letter from the Amur region was sent to the federal authorities back in May, they write “News”. The reason was the company’s plans to open tents in the region for street sales of ice cream with alcohol with a strength of 1.5% to 6%.
According to local authorities, such products are not subject to prohibitions on the sale of alcohol. However, there are a number of prohibitions for drinks of this strength: they cannot be sold in tents, near socially significant objects and to minors. In the Amur region they fear that the sale will lead to the fact that “the use of strong drinks will become the norm for children and will not cause a critical attitude towards them.” In this regard, local authorities asked to ban the sale of ice cream with alcohol to minors and allow the sale of such products only in catering establishments.
Rosalkogoltabakcontrol reviewed the request and sent a response to the Ministry of Finance. The Service considered that such ice cream should be subject to restrictions for alcoholic beverages, since we are talking about ice cream to which alcoholic beverages have been added. The department supported the initiative of the Amur region.
