One of the Russian poets who actively supported the special operation, Dmitry Melnikov, proposed establishing a prize in Russia, which would be personally supervised by the president.
“We need a Putin Prize in the field of literature and art. Yes, following the example of the Stalin Prize. And so that Putin himself reads the applicants. Well, at least I looked through it,” Melnikov wrote on his social media pages on February 25.
The poet living in the Moscow region considers the “Putin Prize” the only way to “turn around the current situation” in culture and pull “Russian literature out of the underground.”
Melnikov’s most famous poem remains the text with the line “tell me that I took Mariupol,” while the author did not participate in the North Military District and in a conversation with MK admitted that at the time of writing the poem he had never been to Donbass.
We also mention that Joseph Stalin, according to researchers, personally read all the books of applicants for the prize, which was awarded for 14 years (11 of them during the life of the head of the Soviet state).
