The government approved a program to expand the production of aircraft, engines and instruments. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced this at a meeting with deputy prime ministers. According to him, over the next six years, more than 600 “fully domestic airliners” should be built in the country.

It is proposed to use funds from the National Welfare Fund to finance the program. On a repayable basis, it will be possible to attract more than 280 billion rubles for these purposes, Mr. Mishustin specified. The initiative also provides for the technical re-equipment of enterprises, increasing factory capacity and carrying out development work, including the creation of new materials and electronic component base.

The prime minister noted that under the conditions of sanctions, “our own modern air fleet is of utmost importance for the connectivity of the regions” of Russia. “The core of the fleet of Russian airlines will be Superjets and the flagship MC-21, this line will be supplemented by the regional Il-114 and the ultra-reliable Tu-214 for medium-range flights. Also wide-body aircraft, such as Il-96-300,” he said (he quotes press service government).

As Kommersant reported, in 2023, Rostec managed to complete construction of only one Tu-214 out of three planned. From 2026, the company intends to begin testing a version of the aircraft with a cabin for two crew members, which Aeroflot insisted on. By data RBC, the airliners will be designed for 170–175 passengers, five Tu-214 are planned to be delivered to the airline in December 2024 – January 2025.

Details – in the publication “Kommersant” “Tu-214 went to the right”.
