In November, the production of mineral fertilizers in Russia fell by 17.8%

In November of this year, Russia produced 1.8 million tons of fertilizers, which is 17.8% less than in the same period in 2021. In just 11 months of 2022, 21.4 million tons of fertilizers were produced, which is 11.4% less than in January-November 2021. This follows from the data Rosstat.
How fertilizer production fell in November:
- potash fertilizers — a decline of 42.1% (produced 512 thousand tons);
- phosphate fertilizers — by 2.9% (0.4 million tons);
- nitrogen fertilizers — by 1.4% (1 million tons).
However, over the 11 months of this year, Russia increased the production of phosphate and nitrogen fertilizers by 0.3% (up to 4 million tons) and by 3.3% (up to 10.7 million tons), respectively. The output of potash fertilizers fell by 31.8% over 11 months, totaling 6.7 million tons.
On July 22, Russia and Ukraine, with the participation of Turkey and the UN, agreed on a grain deal, including for the supply of grain and fertilizers to developing countries. December 22 Russian Foreign Ministry declaredthat Ukraine is blocking the resumption of supplies of ammonia from Russia (a key ingredient in the production of nitrate fertilizers). The ministry said that 7 million tons of raw materials per year are exported to developing countries, thanks to which 25 million tons of fertilizers can be produced.
