The authorities of the Kazakh city of Semey canceled a concert planned for June 21 by the Russian band Bi-2. This decision was made due to forest fires in the region, the press service of the akimat (city administration) said.

“Due to the tragic events that occurred during natural fires, as well as by numerous requests from the public of the region, the concert of the Russian musical group Bi-2, scheduled for June 21 at the Arena, is canceled,” the akimat announced on his Instagram page (belongs to Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).

Local agency Tengrinews reports that after a number of negative comments from users, the post was deleted. The city administration said that the concert was canceled by the leadership of the Arena cultural and sports complex, where the event was supposed to take place.

“Not the akimat canceled the concert. This leadership of the “Arena” made a decision. Arena is currently negotiating with the organizers to postpone the concert,”— said Agency administration representative.
