Russia’s exports of diesel fuel in June amounted to about 3.6 million tons per day, up 13% compared to May, Reuters reports citing Refinitiv. According to him, last month Turkey was the main destination for deliveries of diesel fuel and gas oil, shipments to which from the beginning of January to the end of June amounted to 6.6 million tons (in June – about 1.47 million tons).
In total, in June, Russia shipped about 350,000 tons of diesel fuel from its ports to Brazil. About 0.75 million tons of Russian diesel fuel was sent to African countries. The main destinations were Morocco, Ghana and Togo.
Another 250,000 tons of diesel fuel, shipped in June, is heading towards STS transshipment. It is almost impossible to determine their final destination, but experts believe that the fuel goes to the countries of Asia and the Middle East.
Russian oil companies last year faced problems with the export of oil and petroleum products due to Western sanctions against the Russian Federation for the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. This forced oil companies to look for alternative schemes and directions for export.
However, the price ceiling for Russian oil products introduced on February 5 by the EU and the G7 (set at $100 per barrel for gasoline and diesel fuel) did not significantly affect the volume of exports, since actual prices turned out to be below the ceiling level. Despite the sanctions, in January-May, Russian oil companies increased their gasoline exports by 37%, to 2.5 million tons, amid the profitability of such operations and low prices on the domestic market.
