In June, the index of business activity (PMI) in the services sector in Russia rose to 56.8 points against 54.3 points in May. This is stated in the study (.pdf) rating agency S&P Global.
An index value above 50 points indicates an increase in economic activity, and below it indicates a decline.
S&P Global estimates that output from service providers rose sharply in June. Increasing demand and strong customer interest provided an upswing in business activity. New bookings in the services sector have risen for the fifth month in a row, reaching the highest growth rate since March 2023.
Services employment grew at the fastest pace since May 2011 in June, according to S&P Global. This happened against the background of an increase in the volume of new orders, which allowed suppliers to increase the number of staff.
