For the first five months of 2023, airlines “Aeroflot”, S7, Aurora, Yakutia and IrAero carried 78,800 passengers on flights between Russia and China, the Ministry of Transport reported. During the same period in 2022, which partly coincided with the start of a special operation in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions against the Russian aviation industry, Russian airlines transported 7,500 people on flights between countries. The Ministry of Transport attributed the growth to the removal of covid restrictions and an increase in the number of flights between countries.

According to the ministry, five Russian carriers operate a total of 32 flights a week on 13 routes. Transportation is carried out from Moscow to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk to Beijing and Harbin, from Novosibirsk to Beijing and Urumqi. You can also fly to Harbin by flights from Yakutsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, to Beijing – from Irkutsk.

From China to Russia, according to the Ministry of Transport, seven Chinese airlines fly, which operate 45 flights a week to 10 destinations. Chinese carriers fly to Moscow from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Xian, Chongqing and Chengdu. Flights to St. Petersburg are operated from Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu.

The press service of the Ministry of Transport noted that they continue consultations with the Chinese aviation authorities on expanding air traffic between the countries. The representative of the department said that this work is aimed, among other things, at the development of inbound tourism.
