Skin and extravagant hairstyles, men in black, rock fans, bands covered in merch, finally nostalgic townsfolk in dull hoodies. All of them almost to the brim filled the auditorium and showed enviable enthusiasm.

Large-scale, but without the desire to arrange a high-tech triumph. Rather the opposite. When an orchestra is on stage, many issues with filling the space are resolved by themselves. In this case, they were solved with the help of three screens and two old-fashioned chandeliers, apparently to create an academic atmosphere.

After the orchestral overture, members of The Matrixx appear on the stage and offer the public “Two Ships” from the album “Hurricane” (1996) as the first number. From the solemn orchestral acoustics, the song gradually swings into a more familiar rock hit and sets the sound mood for the entire concert. Academic sound and rock-n-roll prowess for almost two hours will argue and complement each other to the delight of those who were sitting in comfortable chairs and those who were mad in the dance floor.

Taking into account the character of Gleb, it would be strange if he played the whole concert “Agatov’s” classics with the face of an artist who creates something that may not be entirely pleasant for himself, but is clearly inevitable. The songs of The Matrixx quickly leaked into the set list and accepted them with great enthusiasm, which of course once again underlines the interest in Gleb, as an author not associated with Agatha Christie.

A surprise for the public was the appearance on the stage of Alexei Mogilevsky. Without any doubt, he is a legendary person, played in Urfin Juice and Nautilus, created his own group Association, collaborated with a lot of teams, including the group of Gleb Samoilov. In “Dance” and “Nobody Survived” Alexey Mogilevsky’s saxophone added extra generosity to the musical exuberance of this evening.

The person of Gleb Samoilov has never been associated with strict musical discipline, and even during the show with a symphony orchestra, where it would seem that everything should be rehearsed in the strictest way, there was rock anarchy. Gleb could throw out songs from the set list on the go, finding unexpected explanations for this, and sometimes gave out a very chaotic compere, the essence of which was not clear to everyone.

However, after the already mentioned hit by The Matrixx “Nobody Survived”, the show turned into a karaoke block, which, of course, is indispensable for a nostalgic concert. “Carpet-Helicopter” already on the first verse began to drown in the enthusiastic roar of the crowd, “Fairytale Taiga” and “Opium” became an excellent opportunity for the public to test their vocal courage, “Like in War” and “Janitor” brought everyone to the final condition. The words “Nothing, nothing, we’ll see you again …” from “I’ll Be There” indicated the expediency of a new meeting in this format.

The artist is a little over fifty, it is probably very pleasant to see young faces in the hall. The presence of youth is a sign that Gleb’s songs, both old and not so old, are still full of emotions, and the artist himself does not yet look like a musical capitalist behind a cynical harvest. Rather, Gleb still resembles a rocker who is not going through the easiest period in his life (although this gentleman’s charisma can exist completely apart from what actually happens to him off stage), the audience sometimes sincerely worries whether he will make it to the end of the show , and such drama works well paired with songs.

Minuses

Perhaps the orchestra could play a more impressive role in the course of the action. It is possible that the rejection of fuzzes, samples and drum machines in some situations would have brought the concert more in line with the chandeliers above the stage. However, chaos has always been a proprietary method, including Agatha Christie, in whose songs tragedy and operetta did not interfere with each other.
